Tension as police arrest Onitsha arms dealer
There was tension at the Onitsha Main Market yesterday when the Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) invaded the market to arrest a notorious arms dealer, Alphonsus Ngwu.
Ngwu’s men tried to prevent his arrest. But he was shot while trying to escape during a commotion.
The shots created tension, as traders scampered for safety.

Transgender people in India are now officially recognized as third gender, India Supreme Court.
Rights of third gender were given to all transgender people in India by India’s Supreme Court yesterday. It was stated that "It is the right of every human being to choose their gender."
Government was ordered to provide third gender people with all the quotas in spheres of job and education as well as other key amenities just as such for other minorities.
It is estimated that there are 2 million transgender people in India. Common term in India used to describe transgender people is ‘transsexual’ or ‘cross dressers’ in hijra (eunuch).
According to campaigners, such people live in poverty on the fringes of society due to their gender identity. Most common ways to make money for them include dancing, begging and prostitution.

Popular Bishop Slumps And Died Shortly After Completing a 21 Days Fasting Session.

Bishop Reginald who was 68 years old, was ntil his death the Presiding Bishop of Holy Fire International Church located in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis Ghana
The Bishop had gone to a ‘mountain’ to observe the fast, after telling his church members that they should expect great miracles at the end of the fast but a few days after he had completed the fasting, he was down with a mysterious ailment and died shortly after.

Two gangsters have been arrested by Policemen
attached to the Orile Police Division in Lagos State for allegedly
raping and killing an 18-year-old commercial sex worker, Oluwatosin Ami.
The suspects identified as John-Paul Chukwuebuka, 19, Ebuka Chimudi, 22 who belonged to a gang that specializes in luring young ladies to hotels, dispossessing them of their belongings and raping them committed the crime on April 10, 2013.

Graphic Photo-- Sharp Man Cuts Off Robber's Hand in Port Harcourt
It happened early this morning in the River state capital Port Harcourt. According to the story,
an armed
robber attacked a young man in his house at about 4 am, he beat up the man and ordered
him to bring forth the valuables he had in the house.
The robber even angrily threatened to shoot him if he did not comply quickly, but it seemed luck ran
out on the robber, as the victim quickly picked up a cutlass and chopped off his left hand
when he was paying less attention! Despite loosing the hand, the robber fled with the
injury, but is alleged to have been caught in the adjoining streets.
The incident occurred at Ojoto Street in Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt. The dead fingers
was hung on display at the Ojoto street junction for all to see.
BAUCHI STATE: Gunmen Kill Soldier, Escape With Bombs?
Unknown gunmen Tuesday in Shira, Bauchi State, killed a soldier and carted away huge quantities of dynamite belonging to Mothercat, a local construction company.
Dynamite is a very powerful explosive used by construction companies to blast rocks and huge boulders.
Details of how the attackers struck were sketchy, but a military source confirmed to Pointblanknews.com that one soldier was killed by the gunmen before looting the explosives.
Another source claimed that some soldiers gave the gunmen a hot chase and recovered some of the stolen dynamites.
Mothercat is one of the construction companies handling the Kano-Maiduguri expressway.
This is the first time gunmen would be targeting dynamites used by construction companies.
A security source hinted that dynamites may have been used in the early Monday attack that killed over 100 persons in Abuja.

ABUJA BLAST: Baby Survives In Abuja Blast, Reunites With Hospitalised Mother
A 10-month-old baby simply identified as Goodness, who was said to have lost her mother during the Nyana bomb blast is set to be reunited with her mother in hospital.
The
baby was estranged from her mother, who was presumed dead in the blast,
and spent the day at Asokoro Hospital without relatives.
Her mother, Gloria Adams, was later discovered in Intensive Care Unit at Wuse General Hospital and has since been visited by family.
A source in the Hospital said Gloria suffered severe injuries and is one of two left in ICU after one other patient died there.
She is among 216 people now confirmed injured.
“I cannot remember how I got here. I only saw myself on the ground, turning and turning. Then someone came and removed the baby.”
Her baby, Goodness, spent Tuesday morning sleeping at Asokoro Hospital while medical workers and her auntie, Maria Dominic, watched.
Through divine providence, the 10-month-old did not sustain any injuries in the blast apart from a slight swelling over one eye, which is being monitored by Doctors.
Plans were already underway to transfer the baby to Wuse to join her mother.
“I’m feeling better, Many have died, but I am alive. I give glory to God,” Gloria stated.

Boko Haram kidnaps 103 girls from Secondary School in Born
According to reports, 103 girls were
kidnapped after an attack on a Girls Secondary School located in
Chibok, a town on the border of Adamawa and Borno state last night April 14th.
Gunmen reportedly arrived at the school in Chibok around 9pm, killed the soldier stationed to protect the students and took 103 out of the 250 girls that make up the school. The men took the girls away in four lorries. BBC Africa reports that the number of girls abducted is as high as 200.

Nijmapur, a small village in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern
India, after growing a 12-inch long tail.

Amar who is the youngest of five siblings has a patch of thick hair starting in the small of his back which has grown to more than 12 inches in length to resemble a 'tail' and the villagers have hailed it as a sign that he is connected to the Hindu god Hanuman, a monkey-like deity.
His family also believes he looks like a cow, an animal considered holy in Hindu culture and affirmed by Amar’s interest in cows.

Lagos Mob Killed Innocent Man Suspected To Be Thief And Kidnapper
A man, accused of being a thief and a child kidnapper, who was
lynched in Mile 12 Area of Ketu, Lagos, western Nigeria, last Thursday
night, was actually the landlord’s son, police said at the weekend.
Police sources at Alapere said the landlord’s son had been out of the country for 25 years and had just arrived his father’s house located at 3, Fasanya Street, Mile 12, Ketu, when the tragic incident occurred.
The victim had travelled by sea for about three days and had arrived Nigeria unkempt, neighbours said. He was described as a madman because of his looks, witnesses said.
Once in Nigeria, the man went to Fadare Street in Mile 12 area of Ketu where his mother used to live in a house she had built.
