Police shut down Davido's concert in New York

HKN Music hit-maker, Davido’s concert was reportedly shut down by the in Brooklyn, New York Police Department last night March 28th.  
      

The concert which held at Pulse 48 was reportedly shut down because it was overbooked, leading to safety concerns.
The show was supposed to be Davido's first show as he kicks off US/Canada Tour 2014.
He took to his twitter handle to lament about the shutdown.

Ibadan Evil Forest: Police Assured Us Operator Was Working For Govt –Residents

There are indications that some persons might still be trapped at the suspected kidnappers’ den which has come to be known as Ibadan evil forest.
Some residents of Arowona Adegbeye Estate, Idi-Mangoro, Soka area, the adjoining community, told Saturday PUNCH on Friday that some persons were probably still trapped in a cellar there.
For instance, the residents claimed that the commercial motorcyclist, whose disappearance led to the discovery of the den, was still missing. They said that some of the missing okada rider’s colleagues who were at the den, said he told them on the phone that about eight of them were in a cellar.

Kofar Gada  in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi state has almost  become a pilgrim site as people have been trooping in to see a boy who could be called a miracle baby.

Muhammad Mustapha has been tagged a miracle baby due to the circumstances surrounding his birth – he was born with a white Muslim rosary (tesbah) round his neck.

The Tribune paid a visit to the miracle baby and his family in Bauchi and wrote about the baby who has brought fame to the home of the Mustaphas.

At least 98 died over the weekend, in separate incidents in the troubled Benue, Borno and Plateau States.
One of the bloodiest clashes between Tiv youths and suspected Fulani mercenaries erupted at Gbajimba, the headquarters of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, in the afternoon of March 23, 2014, Sunday. They resulted in the death of at least 55 people.
The death toll of market bombing in Ngurosoye village of Bama council area of Borno State has increased to 35 persons. The Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) have been allegedly planted by Boko Haram members at a market square.

Riot at Bowen University Iwo last night

 

There was riot at Bowen University Iwo in Osun State last night. I really don't have all the details but according to what some students told me, the riot was over what they say is lack of basic amenities like water and light as well as what they term 'unnecessary rules & regulations' being made by school management, plus plans to increase their school fees.

The boys destroyed school property, vehicles and vandalized their chaplain's home. While the students were on rampage, the school security personnel fled but the police was eventually called in to calm things down

"Bowenites live by rules, sleep by rules, and eat by rules, but not anymore" one student said

Teams from 26 countries are trying to find flight MH370  

Two objects have been seen that could possibly relate to the missing Malaysia Airlines plane, Australian PM Tony Abbott has announced.

Australian vessels have been searching in the southern Indian Ocean for the aircraft, which disappeared on 8 March with 239 people on board.
Mr Abbott said the objects had been identified on satellite imagery.
An Orion aircraft had been sent to the area to try to locate the objects, Mr Abbott told parliament.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it lost contact with air traffic controllers.

CONFESSION: I Raped Him With N20 - Suspect

The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has arrested a man, 20, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old boy in Dutse Local Government Area.

Banker who died in police custody buried as controversy surrounds his autopsy

  

The Ecobank staff who died in police custody on February 20th, after his employers accused him of fraud and handed him to the authorities, has been buried. (If you missed it, read here) Babatunde Oke was buried on Saturday March 15th in his hometown in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State .

The family lawyer, Segun Akinloye, told Punch that samples had been taken from the deceased before he was buried and sent abroad for a comprehensive autopsy test. The lawyer said late Oke's family was worried about the delay in the release of the result and have written to the Department of Pathology, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, asking for autopsy results.

Nollywood actor, Ganiyu Oyeyemi, popularly known as Ogunjimi was last week arrested for allegedly raping his daughter’s friend in Osogbo, Osun State.

The actor was arrested and detained on Tuesday by the Osun State Police Command after a 22-year-old lady (names withheld) laid a rape complaint at the police station. The case has, however, been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osun for further investigation.

The accident, occurred around 2pm on Wednesday, March 12th, in the car driven by by Jim Iyke.
