SHOCKER: Unknown Gunmen Attack Enugu State Government House

One person has been reportedly killed while three others were injured when about 50 young men attempted to forcefully gain entrance into the Enugu State Government House, Enugu in the early hours of Saturday.

The unknown gunmen were repelled by security operatives attached to the Enugu State seat of power.
It was gathered that there was heavy shooting by the security operatives comprising policemen, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and Soldiers who succeeded in preventing them from gaining entry into the Government House.

Apart from the one person killed and others who sustained gun shots injuries, several machetes were also recovered from the fleeing members of the gang.
Although the mission of the young men, who were armed with several machetes and flags with different inscriptions and insignia belonging to secret cults is yet to be known, an eyewitness said they arrived the Government House at about 4.30 am in buses.
The Chief Security Officer to Governor Sullivan Chime, Mr. Fidelis Ogarabe, DSP, who rushed to the scene after he was alerted by his men, immediately took control of the situation as the security operatives succeeded in repelling them after hours of shooting.
Confirming the incident,  the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sullivan Chime, Mr. Chukwudi Achife said: “the attack occurred when at about 4.30 am a group of young men numbering about 50 and carrying machetes and cutlasses invaded the Government House and tried to force their way in.
“The attackers were immediately engaged by the security personnel who shot dead one person and arrested three. One security personnel was injured in the attack.”
Achife added that the arrested persons along with some of the weapons recovered (matchetes) have since been handed over to the Enugu State Police Command for further investigations.
