Over the years, the Nigerian entertainment industry has striven to
survive without the help from various successive governments. Yet, some
government officials always want to be entertained at every event or
given opportunity they get.
At the recently concluded ‘Silverbird
Man of The Year Award’, held on Sunday night, at the Muson Centre,
Lagos, the state Governor Raji Fashola, and Governor Peter Obi of
Anambra State, were dancing galala on stage with the galala king, Daddy
Showkey.
Wonders, they say never ends. So governors like fun, but
cannot create an enabling environment for its entertainers to survive
effectively, even right in their very nose, the Copyright Society of
Nigeria (COSON), and the Broadcasters Organization of Nigeria (BON) as
well as the Independent Broadcasting Association of Nigeria (IBAN), have
been rivals over artistes management and welfare in the country.
Meanwhile, the two governors were both crowned 2013 Silverbird Man of the Year.
